Hi, I’m Ray Hastie (a.k.a. Ray of Sonshine)
I’m a Christian who has been rescued, redeemed, and held together by the grace of God. Everything good in my life begins with Him, and everything hopeful in my story points back to His faithfulness. I’m just a man learning, day by day, to walk a little closer to the One who saved me.
More than anything, I want to know God better. Not just in the theological sense — though I love good doctrine — but in the lived, daily, “He is with me in this moment” sense. My heart’s desire is to grow in wisdom, in gentleness, and in the kind of steady faith that helps others find their footing in Christ.
I’m also a man in recovery, more than eleven years clean and sober. That part of my story isn’t something I hide; it’s something I thank God for. He brought me out of a place I couldn’t escape on my own, and every sober day is a reminder of His mercy. Recovery taught me humility, honesty, and the beauty of walking alongside others who are fighting their own battles.
In my everyday life, I work in IT and software development — building things, solving problems, and trying to bring a little order to the chaos of technology. I enjoy the logic and structure of code, but I love the moments when God uses my work, my story, or my conversations to encourage someone who needs hope.
Ray of Sonshine is simply my way of sharing the journey. Not as an expert, not as a theologian, but as a fellow traveler who has seen the goodness of God in dark places and bright ones. If anything here helps you take one step closer to Him, then this little corner of the internet has done its job.
